Save the trauma for your mama

Well its been a couple of weeks since Gracie had to get stitches and she is all better now so I thought I'd recall the story.

To prepare for Reed's last game of the season Emily had Reed practicing hitting the ball off of the tee at home. Reed has about a dozen balls that he can just hit one and then grab another and put it on the tee to continue practicing.

Sure enough on the last ball he was going to hit for practice, Grace decided to come close to see what was going on and got in the line of fire. His bat hit her on the head on the follow-through.

I knew Emily was superwoman in her own right, but she had to grab pick up Gracie who was bleeding profusely and screaming, Jonathan who was now crying, and Reed who was scared and somehow gather them all into the car and rush to the ER.

Somehow she managed to get Reed to call me at work too but of course I wasn't in my office.
The ER has a good way of calming things down because they take hours before they actually see you. So even though it was empty a long while later Gracie was all stitched up with 3 or 4 stitches.

Imagine poor Reed getting questioned by the doctors on what really happened. I know they have to ask those kind of things but seriously. They asked him what kind of bat he had, etc... etc...

Of course Gracie was a trooper and was back to her normal routine before we knew it. As long as she had her "mimi" she can handle anything.

Gracie is always silly so we really couldn't tell if she had been adversly affected by the blow to the head.

It was touch and go for a while but soon we realized she was just being Gracie. Notice how she also doctored up her baby. Gracie must not remember being hit with the bat since she has not yet taken a bat to baby.

To show that she held no hard feelings, Gracie still went to Reed's next game to cheer him on.

Last game of the season. Yes!

Last day of pre-school!

Things that make it all better.

Easy like Sunday Morning...

All prettied up for Jonathan's Dedication at church. Notice the new injury to her chin since the stitches incident. The hits keep coming.

All healed up and helping daddy get the boat ready for the Lake!
